After over 10 months of closure, Nigerian polytechnics are to resume next week! Clement Chirman, the National Publicity Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), revealed this, confirming that the body has called off its over 10-month-old strike which began in October last year.
The decision to suspend the strike was taken during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union held this morning Saturday July 12th. All striking lecturers are expected to resume work by Tuesday July 15th!
This is comming barely after two days after Ibrahim Shekarau was sworn in as Education Minister.
