The woman was said to have fallen ill but she got no care due to Ebola fears
According to reports, a Liberian woman has committed suicide on Bankole Street in the Isheri-Oke area of Lagos.
Punch reports that the resident of the area were thrown into confusion when they saw the woman hanging from a tree.
The deceased, was identified simply as Kate, and was said to be a worker in a pure water factory before her death.
Residents told Punch that the woman had been sick for a while but fear of Ebola, which was brought into Nigeria by Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, made people stay away from her.
One of the residents said:
“We see her in this neighbourhood every day. She always looked sick but people stopped selling to her after the Ebola outbreak. It could be because she was Liberian and looked sickly. This might have frustrated her.”
Another resident said:
“She attended a church in the area and her church members still saw her yesterday. I used to see her every day in the dress she died in. She was sick and people in this area had avoided her, especially after the Ebola outbreak.”
The incident is said to have been reported to the Isheri Police Division.
