25-yr-old’s corpse found in well

The lifeless body of a 25-year-old, names withheld, was, at the weekend, found in a well in his residence at Jericho road, Utopko, Benue State.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that the deceased had, a day before his death, engaged in a quarrel with his elder brother over the control of their father’s property.
It was gathered from a resident of Jericho road that Adenu’s lifeless body was found inside a well after the quarrel with his elder brother, Simon the previous day.
The two brothers were said to be orphans who lived at their father’s house. The duo, according to a resident in the area who pleaded anonymity, were said to have fought when the deceased requested to use this year’s rent from their father’s house to buy tools for his welding business, a request Simon was said to have turned down.
It was alleged that the elder brother was not comfortable with the affront of his younger brother, hence, he was said to have invited the vigilance group in the area to teach his younger brother a lesson.
“It may have been the action of the vigilance, who beat up the deceased that made him to commit suicide by entering the well,” said the resident.
A police officer at the area commander office in Otukpo, who also pleaded anonyminity, confirmed that the police have arrested Simon over the incident and investigation on the matter were ongoing.
