MTN launches Mobile TV services.Turns your blackberry,iPhone,Tablets to TV,

MTN  Nigeria are almost set to launch to launch Mobile TV on data enable phones so that you can now watch TV on your data-enable handsets such as Blackberry, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy as well as tablets. You can watch up to 20 channels on your phone.
You only need to send an SMS with the keyword “Mobile TV” to a short code and  a link will be sent to you to watch the TV channels.

1.            What is Mobile TV?
It is a service that allows both prepaid & postpaid customers to view live streams of selected TV channels via 3G enabled mobile devices. Through Mobile TV, you can watch all the available TV channels on-the-go.
2.            Who can use this service?
All valid MTN Nigeria or MTN Ghana prepaid and postpaid customers can use the service.

3.            What are the requirements to use or subscribe to this service?
To use the Mobile TV service, you simply require the following;

•             An active MTN Nigeria or MTN Ghana prepaid or postpaid sim card
•             A browser enabled mobile device
Handsets
Tablets
4.            How can I subscribe to the Mobile TV service?
•             For MTN Nigeria, SMS the keyword “MOBILE TV” to ’5600′, no charge; OR click the MTN imoovtv link from MTN’s wap site;and for MTN Ghana SMS the keyword “MOBILE TV” to”173” OR click the MTN imoovtv link from MTN Ghana’s wap site.
•             You would receive an SMS with a URL link to the Mobile TV portal
•             Click the URL link to open the portal in your mobile browser (you can bookmark the URL on your mobile browser)
•             Select your desired package from the interface
•             Select your desired channels for your bouquet from the list
•             Confirm the channels or remove and replace a channel then click “confirm”
•             Your account would be debited and you would receive a confirmation alert of your subscription

5.            What are the available packages?
The available packages for the Mobile TV service for MTN Nigeria are listed below;
•             Basic package – 4 channels (select from a list of 8 channels)
•             Standard package – 8 channels (select from a list of 14 channels)
•             Premium package – 14 channels (select from a list of 20 channels)
•             Day Pass package – all 20 channels

7.            How are postpaid customers billed for this service?
The Mobile TV service will be billed and invoiced to the customer’s account.

8.            How are prepaid customers billed for this service?
During subscription, the fee would be deducted from your account so please ensure there is sufficient airtime for the selected package.

9.            How do I deactivate from the Mobile TV service?
Deactivation from the service can be done by non-renewal of your existing subscription.

10.          Can I change my package or channel list?
Once your current subscription has expired, you can subscribe to a different package and select a new channel bouquet. If you wish to retain the same package but a different channel selection, once your current subscription expires, upon renewal you can select a different channel bouquet.

11.          If I change my mobile device does it affect my current subscription?
No it doesn’t. You can change your mobile device without affecting your mobile TV subscription.

12.          Can I use the Mobile TV service in a 2G coverage area?
Yes the Mobile TV service can be used in a 2G coverage area. However, the service is best experienced in a 3G coverage area. Please do not expect the same quality of service in the 2G coverage areas.

13.          How would I know when I’m in a 3G or 2G coverage area?
There is a small symbol usually to the top left or right corner of your screen depending on your handset. The symbol is a small “3G” in areas with 3G network coverage.

14.          What happens when my free trial period expires?
When the free trial period expires, customers would be prompted to register to the Basic weekly package. This can be changed to a package of your choosing and you will be charged depending on the chosen package. See package options and fees above.

15.          Does the Mobile TV service affect my existing data plan?
No it doesn’t as the data allowance for the different Mobile TV packages are specific to the Mobile TV service alone at a reduced rate.

16.          What happens if I use up my allocated data in my package but my subscription hasn’t expired?
If the allocated data for your pacakge is used up, the system defaults to your existing data plan (if you have one). If you don’t have an existing data plan, the regular data charge rates apply. You also have the option of purchasing a data plan.

17.          Can I use the mobile TV service if I am out of the country Roaming?
Your active Mobile TV susbcription can be used, however, roaming data rates would apply.

18.          Do I need an antenna or supplementary device to use this service?
No

19.          Can I test the service before I subscribe?
Yes by clicking the ‘Test’ button on the portal landing page.

20.          Who cannot use the service?
The service cannot be used on a computer desktop, Laptop and Windows Operating System (OS) mobile devices currently.
