According to a source from the school where the incident took place, the victim fainted after being flogged severally by one of the female teachers and was subsequently rushed to nearby hospital, where she eventually gave up the ghost. Speaking further, the source disclosed that the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Uju Okeke, then ordered the closure of the school with immediate effect as a result of the incident.
However, the commissioner however denied ordering the closure of the school, saying that the school was on midterm break. But investigation revealed that the school was supposed to go on midterm break next week.
The father of the deceased, Mr. Simeon Ukachukwu who confirmed the tragic incident said only God knows the best. He however, prayed God to grant his daughter’s soul eternal rest. Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ralph Uzoigwe, when contacted said that the police are yet to be briefed about the incident and would get in touch with the press after further investigations.
