Kidnapped lecturer’s colleagues beg govt, Police to recover victim’s corpse

Port Harcourt—Security operatives and government have been enjoined to help recover the corpse of a lecturer at the Federal College of Education, Omoku, Dr. Richard Maduenyi, who died in the custody of kidnappers in Rivers State.
The late Dr. Maduenyi was reportedly taken hostage about three weeks ago and tortured to death by his kidnappers.
Speaking under  the aegis of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU, Chairman of the union in the school, Comrade Peter Chima, said the late lecturer reportedly died in the custody of his kidnappers who allegedly buried him.
Comrade Chima, who was flanked by other members of his union during a briefing in Port Harcourt, yesterday, pleaded with security operatives to recover the body for proper burial.
He also called for security measures to be put in place to ensure the safety of staff  and students of the college.
He said, from January to date, seven staff of the institution had been taken hostage.
