Bragging Rights: Messi Vows To Make Record More Difficult To Break By Scoring More Goals

Lionel Messi’s incredible feat last night during his club’s game with Real Betis, is still setting tongues wagging as it has gone on to become one of the most talked about football news. It wouldn’t probably have generated so much buzz if not for the fact that Messi broke Gerd Muller’s goalscoring record and set a new all time world record.
Messi, 25, has now netted a total of 86 goals in 66 games for club/country in 2012 (so far). While Müller scored 85 in 60 games in 1972.
Speaking on his latest record, the Argentine said “I’ll try to score more this year to make the record a bit more difficult to break for future players”
He continued, “It was more you, the press, who talked about Muller’s record. It’s broken now, so you shouldn’t talk about it anymore” the Barcelona said with a smile
