Mohamed Morsi has returned to his palace in Cairo, although one of the gates is still blocked by many protesters angered by his drive to push through a new constitution. He left the palace on Tuesday evening as ten thousands of protesters marched around it.
Morsi has failed to prove to Egyptians that he is the president of all Egypt, as opposed to a leader in the Muslim Brotherhood group.
The new constitution which is still a draft has become the political battle between the Muslim Brotherhood and their Islamic allies and the largely secular-leaning opposition
The president has insisted that his measures are aimed at ending a tumultuous transition following the popular uprising that ended Hosni Mubarak’s presidency in 2011.
Meanwhile, opponents have accused him of trailing the same path of autocracy that ended Hosni Mubarak’s presidency
