Chocolate City, one of the country’s leading recording labels, has spread its wings to East Africa, where it has established Chocolate City Kenya. The company has signed its first artiste. She is United States-born Kenyan singer, Victoria Kimani.
Unveiling the artiste at a media briefing held at the company’s new headquarters in Lagos, Audu Maikori, CEO, Chocolate City Africa, said the label chose Kimani after she wowed the label and fans in August 2011 with her own version of Ice Prince’s Oleku and uploaded the song online. He said the reception her cover version received was unprecedented, thus the label’s decision to add her to the pool of talented acts already on the label.
Kimani told Entertainment Café that she once lived in Benin City, where she fell in love with Nigerian music. She said she is presently working with a number of popular US artistes and hopes to feature them on her debut album.
Kimani is the second female artiste, after upcoming rapper, Pryse, on the label.
Chocolate City has a rich list of talented artistes. They include M.I, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, BrymO, DJ Caise and Nosa
